Are you regulated by AUSTRAC under Tranche 2?
Answer the questions AUSTRAC’s own tool asks about the services your business provides. You get a result for each designated service and the next step: enrol, enrol and register, or keep a record of why you’re not regulated.
Most paths are five questions or fewer. Your answers stay on this page.
Run the check.
The questions follow the decision logic of AUSTRAC’s “Check if you may be regulated” tool, published at austrac.gov.au. Your answers stay on this page: nothing is stored, and nothing is sent.
How the check works.
The questions follow the decision logic of AUSTRAC’s “Check if you may be regulated” tool. Each answer routes you to the next question, never to a guess.
- 01 Industry.
Choose the industry that best describes your business. Each of the 15 listed industries has its own questions.
- 02 Geographical link.
Confirm you provide services in Australia, or through a foreign branch or subsidiary of an Australian business. Without that link, you probably don’t have obligations.
- 03 Your services.
Answer questions about what you do. Accountants, lawyers and conveyancers select each service they provide, and each one is tested separately.
- 04 Your result.
Likely or unlikely to be regulated, per service where it applies, with the next step written out.
What your result tells you.
Likely to be regulated
Enrol with AUSTRAC no later than 28 days after you start providing a designated service. Remittance and virtual asset service providers must also register.
Unlikely to be regulated
AUSTRAC expects you to be able to explain the basis for that conclusion. Keep a record of the services you considered, why they are not designated services, and the guidance you relied on.
Not yet determined
Two paths end in a referral rather than a verdict. Remittance affiliates are told to contact their network provider. Real estate businesses unsure of their services are pointed to AUSTRAC’s definitions.
LensIQ sets up your AML/CTF program and then runs it: risk assessment, client due diligence, staff training, reporting and review. See LensIQ’s Tranche 2 AML/CTF program. For every obligation, deadline and transition date in one place, read the AML/CTF white paper.

Questions about the check.
What happens to my answers?
They stay in this browser tab while you answer. They are not stored, not added to the page address and not sent to LensIQ or anyone else. Reloading the page clears them.
What is a designated service?
A business activity listed in the AML/CTF Act that criminals can target for money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing. AUSTRAC regulates your business only if it provides one.
What is the difference between enrolling and registering?
Every reporting entity enrols with AUSTRAC. Remittance and virtual asset service providers must also register. It is an offence to provide those services without being registered.
My business works in more than one industry.
Run the check once for each industry. You are regulated if you provide any designated service.
Is the result legal advice?
No. It is general information. If your position is not clear, keep a record of how you reached it and get independent legal advice.
